Solegy Makes
ServicePDQ Service Delivery Platform Friendlier To OpenSIPStack
Developers
Company Adds OpenSIPStack
SIP User Agent, Contributes Select Components Of ServicePDQ
to Help Developers Create Next-Generation Applications
NEW YORK CITY, NY – (June 1, 2006) – Solegy
LLC, a leader in managed service deployment systems, today
announced that it would incorporate the OpenSIPStack (OSS)
SIP user agent into its flagship ServicePDQ managed communications
platform, as well as contribute several components of the
ServicePDQ software architecture to the OSS open source
community. The steps are being taken to help companies
and application developers create exciting new consumer
and business services that leverage next-generation VoIP,
cable and wireless technologies.
ServicePDQ is a flexible,
managed service delivery platform that allows network operators,
service providers and content developers to quickly take
advantage of emerging communications networks. Its subscription-based
model helps these customers bring products to market faster,
create competitive points of difference, and maximize their
return on investment.
With the open source
steps being taken today, Solegy has opened the door for
current and potential customers to create applications
that hook into ServicePDQ for real-time rating, charging,
resource allocation, and customer account management functions.
OSS (www.opensipstack.org)
is an open source initiative to provide application developers
with a fully compliant, freely available SIP (Session Initiation
Protocol) stack. SIP, a peer-to-peer processing protocol,
allows next-generation services—VoIP, video, instant
messaging, and online games, for example—to take
place through session initiation, modification, and termination.
"By making components
of the ServicePDQ framework available to the OSS community
at large, we hope to facilitate more rapid development
of new services," said Eric Hernaez, Solegy’s
chief executive officer.
"Through its direct support of OpenSIPStack, Solegy
is helping developers bring a new era of innovative and
convergent product concepts to the marketplace."
OpenSIPStack is released
under an industry-standard MPL 1.0 license. The MPL allows
for derived software to remain closed for as long as the
core library is left untouched, making it ideal for commercial
use. The OpenSIPStack project includes a fully functional
reference implementation of a SIP Registrar and Session
Border Controller.
Parlay Compatible
To ease the way for
developers, Solegy is contributing Parlay-compatible ServicePDQ
softswitch and presence/availability management applications
for OSS use. Parlay is a project of The Parlay Group (www.parlay.org),
an organization created to form open, technology-independent
Application Programming Interfaces (APIs). These APIs help
IT developers, rather than telephony experts, create convergent
communications applications that operate across multiple,
networking-platform environments.

ServicePDQ elements, go to (http://sourceforge.net/projects/opensipstack/).
